Economy - overview:
Bulgaria, a former communist country that entered the EU on 1 January 2007, has experienced macroeconomic stability and strong growth since a major economic downturn in 1996 led to the fall of the then socialist government. As a result, the government became committed to economic reform and responsible fiscal planning. Minerals, including coal, copper, and zinc, play an important role in industry. In 1997, macroeconomic stability was reinforced by the imposition of a fixed exchange rate of the lev against the German D-mark - the currency is now fixed against the euro - and the negotiation of an IMF standby agreement. Low inflation and steady progress on structural reforms improved the business environment; Bulgaria has averaged 5.1% growth since 2000 and has begun to attract significant amounts of foreign direct investment. Corruption in the public administration, a weak judiciary, and the presence of organized crime remain the largest challenges for Bulgaria. |

Inter Expo & Congress Center (IEC)
On the area of 42 000 sq.m, Inter Expo & Congress Center is situated in the south-eastern part of Sofia only 3 km from the city airport, directly on the highway connecting Vienna and Istanbul, 6 km from the centre of the city and 15 minutes from the central railway station and international bus station. The exhibition complex has four exhibition pavilions, seven congress halls and open exhibition area.
The exhibition pavilions offer excellent conditions for organising a wide spectrum of specialised exhibitions and are also suitable for congresses, seminars, cocktails, gala dinners, promotions, fashion shows and others.
International Fair - Plovdiv
International Fair - Plovdiv is the only fair organizing company in Bulgaria admitted as a member of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). Seven of its events have fulfilled the high criteria and have been approved by UFI. These are the International Technical Fair, the International Consumer Goods and Technologies Fair, the specialized exhibitions AGRA; VINARIA; MEDICUS, DENTO, GALENIA, PrintCom and Foodtech.
