Texworld at the Paris-Le Bourget Exhibition Centre, as of February 2007

Texworld is changing venues for its 20th edition. The show (from Monday 19th to Thursday 22nd February 2007) will now be held at the Paris-Le Bourget Exhibition Centre – not at the Porte de Versailles. Although this opportunity only presented itself very recently, Texworld executives decided on the venue without hesitation for numerous reasons, including the abundance of space, light and easy access. This new site will enable further consolidation and development of the fair.

A light and airy single-level building
Halls 1 and 2 of the Paris-Le Bourget Exhibition Centre offer a light and airy venue with a raw surface area of 45 000 m² all on a single level. This will allow Texworld plenty of space to further develop its forums and activities. The relaxation areas, aisles and restaurants will also be more spacious. In addition, in honour of twenty editions of Texworld and this important exhibition site change, bright, new, modern stands are being introduced that offer a touch of elegance and increased functionality. These stands will enable exhibitors to present their products more effectively and to welcome their visitors in much greater comfort.
The signage, which will be completely renewed, will also be clearer and more attractive, giving the whole fair an elegant feel and a breath of fresh air.

Easy access and excellent connections
Situated on Line B of the RER (the Paris suburban railway), access to the Paris-Le Bourget Exhibition Centre is exceptionally easy. The Centre is only a few minutes from Roissy airport, the Parc de Villepinte Exhibition Centre and the Gare du Nord (where high-speed trains from Germany, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands arrive), which itself is linked to the Gare de l'Est and the Gare de Lyon. As of 2007, Gare de l’Est will be the destination for high-speed trains from Frankfurt and other trains departing from Eastern Europe. The centre of Paris can be reached from Le Bourget in just a few minutes. A shuttle service will be able to transport visitors rapidly from the RER station to the exhibition centre.
Access from the A1 autoroute (15 minutes by car or by taxi from Roissy or Paris) is another major asset as many visitors from Northern Europe arrive by car. There will be ample parking facilities at the Paris-Le Bourget Exhibition Centre.

A brand new and even smarter Texworld with easy access to new location: Paris Le Bourget Exhibition Centre

The birth of Denimworld

Social Transitions: Five new trend themes for Spring -Summer 2008

Tuesday, 20th February 2007 at 9.00 a.m., the new Texworld will open its doors at the Paris Le Bourget Exhibition Centre for its twentieth edition. The new exhibition venue is not only very close to the centre of Paris, but also close to the airports and easily accessible by car and public transportation. A continuous shuttle service between Texworld and Le Bourget station will be provided, carrying visitors to the two show entrances in Hall 1 and Hall 2 within a few minutes.

800 to 850 exhibitors will be offering fabrics and accessories on just one level, allowing a better overview and giving the show greater dynamic. A much smarter and more attractive show awaits the professional visitors (2006: close to 19,000) from the international textile and clothing scene. The new venue with its high ceilings and bright halls help to define the new look of Texworld.

Trend Forums will clearly identify the different product areas represented in the show. Special material Trends (wool, cotton/linen, specialist fabrics, silk/lace/embroidery, linen and knitwear) will be located throughout the show, serving as a guideline and making it easier to navigate through the broadest range of textile products on the market – from "pure luxury" to lower priced products, with the best quality to price ratio available.

The IWTO, International Wool Textile Organisation, will renew for the third time its “Feature Wool” forum that will give three young designers a change to present their work. In addition, the IWTO will also organise its own forum in the wool sector in collaboration with the Winchester School of Art.

A large area will also be devoted to the denim sector, where some of the largest denim producers notably from India, Pakistan, Turkey and China will be grouped together. This fundamental sector in international commerce will occupy an area called Denimworld, with special booths and entertainment. This new display of available fabrics will be even more welcome given that the 2008 spring-summer season will be particularly smart and refined in its colours and trends.

Social Transitions: Spring - Summer 2008
Represented by five themes and showcased in a special trend forum, Social Transitions indicates the new trends of the Spring - Summer 2008 season. The five themes: Sophisticated Elegance, Organic, Sunny, Sport Chic and The Artificial are based on the current situation in the world today. Thanks to factors such as globalization, economic hardships and new patterns of consumer behaviour – the dawn of the 21st century is a time of profound evolution. Part of this evolution involves the establishment of new social classes often in the form of communities – disrupting a social order that has existed for generations. Membership in of one of these groups implies the use of a common language, the same social codes and a similar attitude. Today’s fashion adheres to this notion of belonging to a group in which members are immediately recognizable to each other. It is both a way of integrating oneself into a given group and “differentiating” oneself from other groups.

Communication has become truly global. Time and space are recordable or controllable and therefore easy to manage. A genuine multi-culture is claiming a place in the world of tomorrow. Even so, and perhaps in reaction to this, our “comfort zone” becomes even more rigid. The relationship between each of us is increasingly marked by a friend/enemy type of logic. In order to reassure ourselves it is necessary to identify with and to feel that we belong to a group.

The following five themes represent social groups, each with their own code, common language and identifiable characteristics associated with membership.

Sophisticated Elegance
- Inspiration comes from the world of cosmetics, heavily influenced by make-up palettes.
For women who love fine details. Intellectuals. Cultured, refined women who go to the essential. Elegance.
- Thermal springs, sea-water therapy.
- Colors: creams, beiges, browns, reddish purples.
- Soft cottons and satin, silk blended with cotton, wool blended with cotton. Fine, light-weight wools for springtime, cotton with viscose.
- Finishes. Technological finishes are as important as artistic finishes.

Organic
- Naturals, herbal infusions, colors of the forest after the rain.
Walking and trekking as recreation.
- Ecology as an alternative to religions. Anthropology.
- A range comprised of an infinite variety of greens and browns, but also of yellow, lemon, magenta and deep blue.
- Natural fabrics made from vegetal fibers: cotton, linen, hemp, jute, ramie.
- Raised designs and slight imperfections in weaves. Pre-washed cotton. Cotton and silk blends.

Sunny
- Gold (antiqued or slightly tarnished) as the precious metal of choice, ancient jewels.
- Life, strength, energy, tangibility.
- References: ancient Egypt, India, Mayan temples. Sun worshipers. For a society passionate of ancient cultures.
- A range of yellows and colors inspired by archeology: orange, pale mauve, olive green, cream.
- Jacquards, with a natural appearance that does not draw too much attention and respectful of the manufacturing process.

Sport chic
- A focus on sports practiced in the club-house, rather than on the field. Sport as escape, the role of “sportsman” or “athlete” as social identity.
- The clothes that we nonchalantly wear in private membership clubs and chic circles: golf, horse-riding, polo, cricket, tennis.
- Cruises. Saint Tropez.
- White, purple, bright pink, reddish purple, light blue.
- Cotton with elastane, “twisted” cottons, piques and machine stitches, multi-colored jerseys, stripes, mercerized cotton, prints.

The Artificial.
- A culture based on all that is artificial, from plastic surgery to reality shows. One’s appearance at any price.
- This trend targets 13-20 year olds. Street wear. Youth culture.
- White, bright yellow, acid green, fuchsia, pinks, blues, orange.
- Synthetics, Silicone, Latex, Vinyl. Cotton covered in latex. Stretchy.
- Not pure synthetics, but synthetic treatments applied to natural fabrics. High-tech fabrics can be elegant.
