Techtextil India: new member of the Techtextil family
Logical move into a region of opportunities
Textile Days India 2007: three fairs at the same time and place
India is en vogue! And this applies to the technical textiles, too, because India, with its enormous plans for development in almost every area, offers unparalleled opportunity to welcome the usage of technical textiles as never before "Thus, taking the Techtextil brand to India is only logical. Numerous exhibitors have confirmed a high degree of interest in both the demand and supply sides of the Indian market", says Detlef Braun, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt GmbH. “ The Indian textile industry urgently wants to upgrade its manufacturing process to include the vastly lucrative technical textiles areas, since the opportunities for business in sectors like infrastructure, medical and eco technology are mind boggling. Hence Techtextil India will be an eye-opener for both the user as well as the manufacturer”, says Shammi Nagpal, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt India. To these factors must be added the support promised by the Government of India, which aims to bring about an improvement in the quality of life by promoting this future-oriented segment. The first Techtextil India will be held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (East), Mumbai, parallel to Heimtextil India and Texworld India from 10 to 12 October 2007. Together, these three events make up the 'Textile Days India'.
In India, technical textiles account for max. 17 percent of textile production with a share of no more than three percent of the world market. The government is willing to help the industry gain a bigger foothold in the market for technical textiles and, to this end, has already cut customs duties. Investments are also planned in the field of technical textiles and nonwovens, as well as in the medical and garment sectors. The domestic market for technical textiles is expected to be worth around US $ 7 billion by 2007 (Source: Indian Ministry of Textiles).
"This is opening up a vast market for global players in the textile sector. India is already an attractive location for international companies', reports Michael Jänecke, Director Brand Techtextil and Avantex, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.
The great international interest in this market is shown by the two national joint stands already booked. With the support of the German Ministry for Economics and Technology (BMWi), the German Association of the Trade Fair Industry (Ausstellungs- und Messeausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft - AUMA) and the Federal Association of the German Textile Industry (Gesamttextil), there will be a ''High-Tex from Germany' joint stand at the fair. Confirmation has also been received for a Canadian joint stand. Altogether, around 100 exhibitors and 3,000 visitors are expected.
The international trade fairs for technical textiles and nonwovens with their 'parent event' in Frankfurt am Main present this innovative and multifarious sector in its entirety and are considered to be suppliers of effective ideas and problem solutions. Thanks to the user-oriented concept, the textile fairs of Messe Frankfurt represent effective platforms for marketing, communication and business.
The exhibitors of the Techtextil fairs represent the entire technical-textiles value chain and are divided into ten product groups: research / development / planning / consultancy, technology / machinery / accessories, woven fabrics / interlaid scrims / braiding / knitted fabrics, nonwovens, coated textiles, composites, Bondtec, associations and publishers.
The Techtextil visitor target groups are the key to success and cover twelve areas of application: Agrotech (ground care and landscaping, agriculture and forestry, animal husbandry), Buildtech (membrane, lightweight and solid building, civil and industrial engineering, temporary constructions, interior fittings, earthmoving, hydraulic engineering, transport-infrastructure construction, agrarian construction), Clothtech (garments, shoes), Geotech (civil engineering, road building, dike construction, landfills), Hometech (furniture, interior fittings and furnishings, carpets, floor coverings), Indutech (filtration, cleaning, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, electrical engineering industry), Medtech (hygiene, medicine), Mobiltech (automobiles, ships, aircraft, trains, space travel), Oekotech (environmental protection, recycling, waste disposal), Packtech (packing materials, protective-cover systems, sacks, big bags, container systems), Protech (personal and object protection), Sporttech (sport and leisure, active wear, outdoor, sports articles and equipment, sports shoes).
Parallel to the Techtextil fair, the Techtextil Symposium offers lectures, presentations and discussion forums covering innovative topics for suppliers, users and experts from research, engineering and industry.
