NEXT APPOINTMENT WITH MODAPRIMA N0. 62, ON MAY 27 - 29, 2007 IN MILAN AT MIC (MILANO CONVENTION CENTER)

Post Release

ModaPrima No.61 closes at + 35.7%.
This second edition by Pitti Immagine confirms relaunch of the Salon

A total of 2319 visitors (35.7% more than the November 2005 edition), with 50% of them foreign, from around 55 countries. Japan is the leading foreign market, followed by Turkey, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Russia, France and Germany.
These were the final figures for the 61st edition of ModaPrima, the international salon of fashion and accessory collections that over three days at the MIC (Milan Convention Centre in Fieramilanocity) presented 200 collections of women and men’s fashion and accessories for autumn/winter 2006/2007, in addition to flash previews of the spring/summer 2007 collections.

“These results are strong indisputable proof of just how popular this salon was”, states Agostino Poletto, vice managing director for the Pitti Immagine events and development. “Consistent growth in the number of buyers is important confirmation of our work, of how the project to relaunch this event, started up last May (the first edition by Pitti Immagine), is going in the right direction. We have attempted to develop all ModaPrima’s potential, through careful selection of the most qualified producers of Made in Italy for private labels and programmed fashion, research into image and the path for presenting the collections, the integrated range of services on offer at the show. The results are satisfying and urge us to aim even higher”.

As well as important attendance figures, the salon also gained positive feedback from exhibitors, thanks to the number and quality of business contacts made, and obtained good coverage from specialist press (over 50 accredited Italian and foreign journalists at this edition). Mention must also be made of the success of the promo plan for the event, set up by Pitti Immagine in collaboration with the ICE (National Institute for Foreign Trade) and which brought important delegations of buyers to ModaPrima from Spain, Norway, Russia, Great Britain and Japan.

The FASHION CUBE trends area was also very popular with visitors, a project that at every edition provides information and research into fashion trends for the upcoming seasons. Organised by the stylist Sergio Colantuoni and put together in collaboration with the exhibiting companies, Fashion Cube welcomed visitors with a journey through the imaginary “backstage” of a fashion show, via six installations, each one dedicated to a theme of contemporary glamour.

This edition of ModaPrima was also an opportunity for debate about the new economic scenarios of the fashion system. On 27 November there was the presentation of the book “Il Valore della Moda. Industria e servizi in un settore guidato dall’innovazione” (The Value of Fashion. Industry and services in a sector led by innovation), by Marco Ricchetti and Enrico Cietta (Bruno Mondadori, Milan 2006). An initiative promoted by the CFMI (Florence Centre for Italian Fashion) in collaboration with Hermes Lab.
