MILANOVENDEMODA: STYLE, QUALITY AND RESEARCH
FOUR DAYS OF INNOVATION

Milan September 22, 2006

MILANOVENDEMODA, the most complete and innovative showcase of women’s prêt à porter fashion, takes the stage from September 22 to 25, 2006, at fieramilanocity with Spring-Summer 2007 collections.

The expo, which covers 23,000 square meters and welcomes more than 275 collections, is organized by EXPOCTS (51% owned by Fiera Milano and 49% by Unione del Commercio di Milano).

The dates have been moved up compared to last September so that MILANOVENDEMODA will take place concurrently with the first weekend of prêt-a-porter fashion shows and with MICAM and MIPEL. This strategic decision ensures the event will be held in a time when there are a great many Italian and foreign visitors in Milan to see the vast offer of clothing and accessories.
The location has also changed: MILANOVENDEMODA is always at fieramilanocity, but in new pavilions. The modern and more functional 7, 8, 9 and 10 pavilions will host the event.

The expo configuration has been confirmed and is divided, as always, into five sections devoted to everything pertaining to “women’s fashion”, but there will be many surprises in store for the numerous visitors at MILANOVENDEMODA.

One of the most exciting debuts is the new “46....52 PluSize”, held on the same dates and place as MILANOVENDEMODA, and organized in cooperation with Studio Casile & Casile. This authentic “show in a show” is entirely dedicated to plus size fashions. The market segment much bigger than one might imagine: according to surveys, 58.4% of female consumers wear sizes 46 and up, but still demand quality, styles and the latest trends.
“Francesco Casile, the mastermind of PluSize, had the talent to provide the right response to a demand that is become more and more important,” commented Carlo Bassi, EXPOCTS Managing Director. “Our organization recognized the importance of the plus size sector: thanks to his know-how, we will be able to develop the event and promote this promising business.”

Another welcome return, after the very positive debut last February, is Guest Square, the young soul of MILANOVENDEMODA. In the 1.1 section, the first encountered at the expo that is entirely devoted to new concepts, an area will be set aside for the creations of young designers chosen for their unique, fresh, innovative ideas. Thanks to its many original ideas, it is a space you won’t want to miss.

It is an important showcase on the fashion of the future that, according to sociologists, is increasingly influenced by life in the city, where the style of young students blends with that of the successful executive.

The mainstay of the event remains the five sections of MILANOVENDEMODA, which cover all aspects of women’s fashion.

It begins with the striking area called 1.1, where the classic exhibit setup is abandoned and visitors get the feeling they are in the smoky city of London. Here, where style inspired by city life, visitors will find conceptual clothes and accessories that make a statement.

It continues with LT, where the buzzwords are research and quality, which are combined to create the most exclusive, trendy fashions.

The ACCESSORIES area has a great new look and was designed to showcase everything from scarves and hats to belts, shoes, handbags and gloves. Research and quality, with a touch of experimentation, can be seen in the vast assortment of items created to add the perfect finishing touch to any type of clothes.

The show could not be without a section devoted to LUXURY, where elegant, precious, and even rare details were designed to satisfy the most refined palates.

This journey amidst the fashions for next season concludes with the TREND section featuring young fashions for a vast public that likes to mix and match styles to create a very personal look.

More than 400 buyers and different foreign delegations, organized in cooperation with ICE – the Italian Institute of Foreign Trade – have confirmed their attendance. This excellent result was achieved by the Buyer’s Team, which was created to contact and invite to MilanoVendeModa the most important buyers from consolidated markets and developing countries. Delegations at MVM are from India, Japan, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia and Ukraine.
