China International Trade Fair for Home Textiles & Accessories
Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2008
- Home textile trade event on track for better than ever show
- Exhibitors applaud show's reputation; many new products planned
- Designers return after positive experience at last year's show
Home textile suppliers are lining up for the upcoming Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, 26 - 28 August 2008 at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre. More than 800 suppliers will attend and the show features more than 100,000 sqm of trade space - the largest show yet.
Many new exhibitors, such as Spanish upholstery manufacturer Girones, joined the show this year after hearing about its success in the past. "We were attracted to the show due to its reputation, how well-known it's become around the world for interior decoration fabrics," said Javier Girones. His company will highlight new intelligent fabrics that eliminate household odours, repel mosquitoes or emanate a refreshing scent.
Curtain maker Glofab from China also joined based on the show's reputation, said textile manager Mr Tommy Gunawan. "Our company joined this year because we feel that this is the most influential international exhibition for home textiles."
Chinese bedding manufacturer Dohia Furniture Decorations joined based on its success at Intertextile's parent show Heimtextil in Germany, said Ms Jessica Wan, international trade department manager. "We had a very good experience at Heimtextil, which makes us confident in Messe Frankfurt fairs. We also know Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles is one of the most professional home textile fairs in China." Dohia will feature functional quilts and pillows and new designs at the show, she noted.
Designers return for more good trade
After the success of 2007, many textile designers will be back again at the Designer's Studio, a special zone to highlight creative designs.
"We exhibited at the show last year and were very pleased with the response from customers," said Mr Tristan Goodfellow from Diane Harrison Design, UK, which plans to show some of their latest textile and wall covering designs. "I feel the Chinese market is starting to understand the value, and cost, of original design. Because of this our market is growing in China. Last year we also met International buyers so it was a good show for us."
"We were impressed with the show last year and met many new potential customers - Chinese and from overseas," added Mr Kevin Lewis, with Tom Lewis Design, UK. "We feel that as the balance of global trade shifts towards Asia then this show will become increasingly vital." His firm will introduce its Crown House range of antique textiles and prints as well as CAD designs and hand-painted designs for interiors and wallpapers. "We produce a wide range of surface pattern designs for all areas of home products for clients including major retail lifestyle brand and manufacturers."
EAT from Germany, creator of the DesignScope software for electronic patterning, will feature a range of new software including the loom networking programme LoomNet victor and LoomEditor, a new feature of DesignScope victor that allows a graphic presentation of the complete weaving loom.
