Germany’s biggest hairdressing fair: top hairdressers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland coming to Hair & Beauty

Hair & Beauty is a major draw: meeting place, showcase for new products, and essential venue – all in one

From Saturday to Monday, 12 to 14 May 2007, around 40,000 visitors will be filling Hall 3 and the Festhalle at the Frankfurt Fair & Exhibition Centre. They will all be heading for Hair & Beauty, Germany’s biggest trade fair for hairdressing. 15 top hairdressers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland know why Hair & Beauty is an essential venue for all those in the sector.

Intercoiffure Martina Acht, Offenbach:
“I am looking forward to Hair & Beauty, because I meet my colleagues there, and because every hairdresser can put out his feelers to see what’s new. For me it is not a long journey to Hair & Beauty, but even if I didn’t live so close to Frankfurt, I would quite certainly be there.”

Oliver Bohn, Amann-Bohn School of Hairdressing, Lörrach:
“There are four reasons why hairdressers should come to Hair & Beauty: they get a comprehensive overview of all the latest products. They meet colleagues. They can join the spectators at the competition stages and see how international hairdressers invent Formula 1 creations on people’s heads. And they can see presentations of techniques and ideas on the workshop stages. With my hairdressing school, Amann & Bohn, I will be one of those designing the workshop programme at Hair & Beauty, and I am already looking forward to passing on some tips and ideas. Being a hairdresser is the finest profession in the world!”

Petra Brockmann, BrockmannundKnödler, Dresden:
“Hair & Beauty is developing into a strong draw within the hairdressing sector, and its German and European competitions, and more than 350 exhibitors, give it considerable potential. Exhibitors and visitors have a mutual relation, and they need each other. Visitors want to see attractive exhibitors, and the exhibitors expect good contacts and business. For us Hair & Beauty is an absolutely excellent platform for demonstrating to hairdressers the two technologies which we have developed ourselves: OrganicHairCutting® and OrganichairColoring®. Our experience shows that the demand for hairdressers’ requisites is higher than ever, and so Hair & Beauty needs no further justification. I appeal to all hairdressers and to all businesses to see the fair as a tool and a platform for their own development, and to use it as such. Only if you are at the heart of the contemporary scene, and only if you are open to innovation, can you gain your customers and make them enthusiastic – and, above all, keep them.”

Intercoiffure Frank Brormann, Frank und Friseure, Oelde:
“I go to all the hairdressing fairs in Europe and find that Hair & Beauty is the fair with the most to give when it comes to specialist information, the show and workshop programme, and the design of the stands. And a visit to the shows is still affordable. I am very happy about everything I have heard so far concerning the new concept for Hair & Beauty.”

Hans Bundy and Georg Bundy, BundyBundy, Vienna, Austria:
“Hair & Beauty is one of the major events on the hairdressing scene for information and communication. To be recommended for all colleagues who want to get on!”

Enzo Di Giorgio, Di Giorgio, Glattbrugg, Switzerland:
“Visiting a fair such as Hair & Beauty motivates young people. They can gather ideas, look at how various techniques are performed, and benefit from experiencing the latest hairdressing, cosmetic and manicure trends, all live. When it comes to the competitions, it is interesting to see where Switzerland stands on a international comparison.”

Harald Gärtner, Art & Fashion, Graz, Austria:
“Messe Frankfurt, with its spacious halls and attractive environment, makes the ideal framework for a major hairdressing fair such as Hair & Beauty. As a Wella agent, of course I am interested in what my international colleagues are staging. But the product innovations are also always worth a visit.”

Kerstin Jochum, Kejo-Typstyling, Heltersberg:
“At Hair & Beauty hairdressers from all over Europe have an opportunity to talk to each other and compare notes. In the wake of globalisation, our sector would no longer be conceivable without the international dimension.”

Intercoiffure Udo Luy, Haare machen Leute, Cologne:
“Hair & Beauty is the mega-event, with all the big companies. I think the new concept is absolutely excellent. As a businessman, I go to Hair & Beauty partly to maintain my contacts, but also an event of this kind is good for brainstorming. I leave the many impressions I have gathered to work on me, and then I put them into practice in the businesses as concepts.”

Intercoiffure André Maire, Intercoiffure Iden & Maire, Bremen:
“Hair & Beauty is an essential venue for all hairdressers who want to be at the centre of contemporary developments and to stay there. Everything which is important for the hairdresser is brought together here in a filtered, and thus particularly intensive, form.”

Intercoiffure Lars Nicolaisen, Intercoiffure Nicolaisen, Hamburg:
“I am quite sure that Messe Frankfurt, with its power, has set the right parameters for Hair & Beauty. I expect the event to show a rise in quality and am looking forward to the fascination which a major trade fair emanates. The shows, the excellent contacts, and a chance to see what other businesses in the industry are doing – to my mind, all this is part of a successful trade fair. Of course I am also excited because on Saturday night I shall be chairing the ‘Colour Secrets’ Gala Evening in the Frankfurt Festhalle.”

Intercoiffure Klaus-Peter Ochs, kp Ochs Friseure, Frankfurt am Main:
“Hair & Beauty is a platform for information and entertainment and provides a service in featuring new developments. Also you can make purchases and take them home with you. I know many hairdressers who take their whole team to Hair & Beauty for a Sunday study and information session. You can see it functions well from the upward trend shown by this event in Frankfurt.”

Paolo Pace, Coiffure Opera Arte, Winterthur, Switzerland:
“In Frankfurt young people who want more from their profession than just a training and a bread-and-butter employment find everything which is important. They can see the latest techniques and watch the shows and competitions. The Frankfurt Fair & Exhibition Centre is a suitable location for the European Championship and the finals of the European Cup.”

Matthias Scharf, HaarScharf Salon, Schönbrunn:
“I think it is important to see and experience the latest products at the fair. The competitions interest me as a former participant; it is exciting to discover talented newcomers in competitions and to share the thrills with your favourites. Again and again competitions are the launching pads for careers.”

Intercoiffure Kirstin Ellen Vietze, Friseur & Kosmetik, Berlin:
“I meet a great many colleagues at Hair & Beauty, and in two days I can have as many meetings as I would otherwise have over months. To see the large range which the industry has on offer and to attend shows featuring innovative products is a great motivating factor. Also it’s simply important for the business to have your eye on what you can take home from such a major trade fair in the way of new ideas. Even if this year the Hair & Beauty Sunday is Mother’s Day, Frankfurt is always worth a trip.”

Messe Frankfurt takes over Hair & Beauty

Improved concept and greater internationality

Messe Frankfurt will assume responsibility for planning and holding Hair & Beauty with effect from 2007. The company announced at the beginning of March that it is taking over the only supra-regional fair for the hairdressing trade and the hair-cosmetic industry in Germany from the previous organiser, Dr. Kater Marketing GmbH. The notional sponsor of Hair & Beauty, which will be held in 2007 from 12 to 14 May, remains the Federation of the German Hairdressing Trade (Zentralverband des Deutschen Friseurhandwerks). "Hair & Beauty supplements our portfolio of consumer-goods events perfectly", explains Dr. Michael Peters, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt. "We will improve the concept of Hair & Beauty and, in particular, make it more international. As the first step, we aim to make Hair & Beauty the foremost trade fair for the European hairdressing sector and then, taking a long-term view, turn it into the world's leading event", adds Peters. The Messe Frankfurt group of companies is the second biggest fair and exhibition company in the world and holds more events outside its home country than any other company: a total of 59 between Buenos Aires and Tokyo in 2005. Outside Germany, 14 subsidiaries, five offices and 50 representatives work for Messe Frankfurt.

The new Hair & Beauty will be positioned as the leading event for all three segments of the market – top, middle and mainstream – and thus be the platform for everyone working in the hairdressing trade. And this is also shown by the new sequence of days planned: from next year, the fair will open its doors on the Saturday when the focus will be on the specialist trade. Sunday will be the main show day while competitions and trainee hairdressers will dominate the Monday.

The first Hair & Beauty to bear the signature of Messe Frankfurt will occupy Hall 3 and the Forum. The approximately 400 international exhibitors will make their presentations in Halls 3.0 and 3.1. The Hair & Beauty Team and its Director, Eva Olbrich, who is moreover responsible for Beautyworld in Frankfurt am Main, will also transform Forum 0 into the Top Act Show Stage, another new feature of the first Hair & Beauty in 2007. To date, brand-name companies have always presented the shows of their star hairdressers on their own stands. In future, these top acts will appear on the stage of the same name. Thus, for the Top Act Show Stage, Messe Frankfurt will also offer a show ticket in addition to the exhibition ticket. Thus, trade visitors will be able to attend those parts of Hair & Beauty that are of particular interest to them.

The new look of Hair & Beauty will also be reflected by the clearly structured and spacious layout of the exhibition halls. The product segments are split into six thematic worlds. In Hall 3.1, the approx. 40,000 visitors will discover the Forum of Excellence, with presentations by brand-name companies from the hair-cosmetic industry, the Beauty Corner with exhibitors from the fields of cosmetics and care and Hair & Beauty Professional with hair¬dressers' shop fitters and suppliers of professional hairdressing requisites. In Hall 3.0, they can find the Nail Corner for exhibitors in the manicure, nail design and nail art segments, the Media Village for national and international journalists and Hair & Beauty Direct, an area reserved for all exhibitors who sell direct.

Exhibitors and visitors will have lots of room in these two exhibition halls, which will be occupied in their entirety. With its cosmetic ambience, the new Hair & Beauty will appeal to all the senses. Guaranteeing this will not only be the attractive exhibition stands and the exclusive shows and workshops, but also Messe Frankfurt's high standards of quality: the harmonious concept includes comfortable quiet zones, special catering facilities and carpeting throughout the halls.
