Cosmoprof Asia - More International Than Ever
If the numbers are anything to go by, COSMOPROF ASIA has again proved itself to be the international beauty event in the Asia Pacific region. The show registered* 1,258 exhibitors (+173 compared to 2005 total number of exhibitors), almost 45,000 sqm of exhibition area (+5,000 sqm compared to 2005), 36 countries and 17 national & group pavilions, and almost 40,000 visitors, of which there was an impressive increase in overseas numbers.
Attracting high-end international visitors
COSMOPROF ASIA 2006 registered its usual steady volume of visitors from Asia, but also saw a remarkable growth from other regions of the world (see table below), strengthening its global reputation. By country, among the strongest growth was seen from FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, ISRAEL, ITALY, RUSSIA, SAUDI ARABIA, SOUTH AFRICA, SPAIN, SWITZERLAND, TURKEY and UNITED ARAB EMIRATES. Closer to home in Asia Pacific markets, the show attracted an increased number of buyers from INDIA, INDONESIA, KOREA, MALAYSIA, NEW ZEALAND, PAKISTAN and THAILAND.
A true international vocation
From the exhibitors' side, the participation of 17 National & Group pavilions deserves a special mention. Australia, mainland China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and USA all created unique presentation areas that allowed visitors to build a detailed picture of the worldwide beauty industry.
In the case of France, which had the largest number of exhibiting companies from any European nation, Mr Renaud Dutreil, the French Minister for SME, Trade, Small-Scale Industry and the Professions visited the exhibition to honour the 73 companies in the country pavilion.
The Australian pavilion also stood out as exhibitors here were incredibly diverse, presenting anything from ethnic beauty products to products using native, natural ingredients.
“Focus Country of the Year ” for the 2006 edition of COSMOPROF ASIA was Thailand and some 80 Thai companies (an overall 33% increase on last year) filled the Thai exhibition area. They showcased high-end products and know-how, in both modern and deep-rooted, ancient traditions. Special thanks must go to Thailand ’s Ministry of Commerce and the Department of Export Promotion Thailand which supported the Thai companies and promoted tailor-made educational seminars to honour Thai wellness and beauty culture at COSMOPROF ASIA 2006.
Second Les Nouvelles Esth étiques Hong Kong International Aesthetics Congress
The second edition of the LNE congress was a great success thanks to the kind support of sponsors That ’so Pure White (Italy), Franch é (USA) and Bio-Song Beauty (China). Through a comprehensive workshop and demonstration programme, these Gold Sponsors provided a comprehensive overview of the latest trends and treatments.
Special thanks go to the international speakers and all specialists who enriched the educational seminars with their know-how. They included Mr Gil Amsallem (France), Mr Ka Ïdo Sourisak (Laos), Mr Jean-Pierre Demeerlaere (France), Mr Sun Hong Kui (China), Dr. Pichaet Wiriyachitra (Thailand), Ms Christine Le (USA).
Worldwide Beauty Observatory
Interest in COSMOPROF ASIA ’s Worldwide Beauty Observatory was centred on packaging, an area that is playing a fundamental role in beauty industry dynamics.
The two round tables entitled “Creations and Design: the Driving Force of the Beauty Industry ” and “Technique and Creation: the Possible or Impossible Marriage ” investigated the changing role of creativity and design in the packaging industry.
Chairmen of the discussions were two experienced personalities of the packaging world: Jean-Yves Bourgeois, a French economics journalist with 30-years experience in international packaging, and Thierry de Baschmakoff, a renowned international designer who has worked with a string of established perfumery brands.
Thierry de Baschmakoff introduced both the round tables at which major international players were present to share opinions about the future of cosmetic products. A highlight was an analysis of the crucial role being played by China and its impact on the future, both in terms of consumption of beauty products and international alliances.
OMC International Youth Championship 2006
COSMOPROF ASIA, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Division of OMC Organisation Mondiale Coiffure, hosted the 2006 edition of the OMC International Youth Championship. Lots of regional competitors joined the competition which attracted international visitors and overseas stylists, increasing the intercultural and cosmopolitan character of the event.
The winners were multinational (Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong and China) although China picked up the most awards; 50 prizes in eight categories.
Our Pledge for the Best Beauty Service - Consumer Survey Report on Hong Kong Beauty Industry
The Cosmetic and Perfumery Association of Hong Kong (CPAHK) has announced their latest findings relating to the “Consumer Survey Report on Hong Kong Beauty Industry ” during COSMOPROF ASIA. There is no better place than COSMOPROF ASIA to announce the survey result as it brings together the largest number of practitioners of beauty salons, spas and slim centres. These participants were particularly benefited by the useful tips of the survey findings:
- 58% of respondents spent HK$1,000 each month on beauty salons, spas or slim centres;
- Respondents mainly referred to “goodwill or referral by friends and relatives ”;
- Seven main determining factors of repeated visits at the same beauty salon, spa or slim centres were (in descending order) Hygiene, Safety, Skills of Treatment, Effect, Service, Environment and Service Charges
This consumer survey is a core programme of the “Our Pledge for the Best Beauty Service ” project aimed at providing a set of standardization systems to govern practitioner ’s operation and management, so as to upgrade service standards and professional disciplines.
The Natural Health Fair
The fifth edition of the Natural Health Fair covered an area of 3,300 sqm gross - up 30% over last year – housing a total of 115 exhibitors from 13 countries & regions. This was an outstanding success which, on the one hand, reflects the boom of the natural market at a global level and, on the other, the winning synergies with COSMOPROF ASIA and its qualified and huge visitor flow. With Japan being “Focus Country of the Year ”, a highlight was the so-called “Japanese Day ” when, within the “Natural Innovations on Stage ” programme, high-end Japanese companies presented seminars and showcases of their most typical products.
