Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires
Sep 14-17, 2007, Buenos Aires, Argentina |
Final Report
The 13th edition of Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires ended with great success
It lasted four intense days with a large number of visitors, professionals of this industry, tradespeople, business people and public in general.
This edition exceeded the previous edition not only for the number of public but also for the number of events and footage used.
When the loudspeakers announced the end of Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires 2006 cheerful voices were heard and many of the exhibitors took the opportunity to make a toast to the goals achieved.
The fair was a success for all those who participated. More than 40,154 visitors attended, many from the inland provinces, in groups who traveled especially to see it. It also received visitors from Germany, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay and Uruguay, among a number.
Year after year Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires is growing in the number of exhibitors and visitors, as well as in its footage. It is currently considered a must-go event for businessmen and professionals in this industry and for companies that expect to position their brands or keep their positioning. All this was reflected in the speech of the President of Indexport Messe Frankfurt, Mr. Fernando Gorbarán: “Precisely three years ago we took the challenge to try to make this exhibition, which already had 13 years’ history in the country, go international. A fair that little by little would include the different sectors related to this industry, and basically have it set on the international calendar. We also wished to position Buenos Aires as a business city, especially for the cosmetics and aesthetics industry, both of which have gone through such an remarkable development in the last few years. We are very happy today. Many of those objectives have been met and there are still many objectives ahead (...).” Indexport Messe Frankfurt is the company in charge of the organization of the exhibition, together with the Argentinean Cosmetics and Perfume Makers Chamber (CAPA).
The National Deputy Secretary of Industry, Trade and SMEs, Mr. José Luis Díaz Pérez, was present at the exhibition, and spoke about this sector: “This is a dynamic, striving sector, growing at an amazing pace. It is strongly focused on exports and has managed to place itself in foreign markets despite the fact that Argentina is not a traditional country for cosmetic products and perfumes. The efforts, talent, creativity, work capacity and will have compensated for other issues, such as brand or origin. This exhibition is very interesting and important. It is actually amazing to find such a number of exhibitors, many of which come from abroad (...).”
The President of the Argentinean Cosmetic and Perfume Makers Chamber (CAPA), which gathers 80% of the companies in this industry, both domestic and multinational, Mr. Rodolfo Prieto, stated: “In cold numbers, our industry is growing by 20% per year. We are exporting US$ 300 million. You all know that exporting an Argentinean cosmetic item is not easy, because at present it is not a glamorous origin. Thanks to the efforts of all those who are here, however, there are Argentinean products in many countries and at many homes. We are all proud for having achieved that. This industry offers jobs to 10,000 people directly and to 30,000 indirectly."
Business people and tradespeople in this industry have also had the possibility of making business within the framework of this exhibition, evidence of this growth and commercial opening to the world. 40 Argentinean companies and 8 foreign importers were involved in the 1st International Round of Cosmetics Buyers, organized by Indexport Messe Frankfurt, together with the Export-Ar Foundation. 176 meetings were held, overall. The President of the Foundation, Mr. Marcelo Elizondo indicated: “The Export-Ar Foundation opens an international business round which, we expect, will be the international chapter that together we bring to the table. We have invited business people from different countries, who are here with us. On the other hand, these are the main exports markets for this industry from Argentina. Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador. We wish to welcome them through the companies that have come for business rounds, meetings with many companies (...) and which will have opportunities to close successful deals."
Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires occupied 22.000 sq mt, where 152 companies displayed their products and services. Many of them used this opportunity to launch new lines and services. Some of the exhibitors commented as follows:
ISSUE GROUP
Marketing Head of the Professional Division, Ms. Mariana Marelli
“We had more professional public on Sundays and Mondays. We saw it because when we handed in the gifts, the bags, we managed to gather data and make contact with several professionals, in turn for us to get new leads. I believe that we will come back because Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires is a renowned exhibition. And it is the only major cosmetics fair in Argentina. Image-wise it is quite useful for us.”
LACA
Commercial Manager of the Laboratory, Mr. Humberto Campos
“(...) Coming to this exhibition is worthwhile, as well as investing human resources, bringing people, because in all and every sense, from the commercial, institutional and training fields, we are satisfied.”
SILKEY PROFESSIONAL
Commercial Manager of the Professional Division, Mr. Eduardo González
“We have come to Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires for some ten years now. Being here today is important for us. This event gathers all the industry, not only hair, but also face and body cosmetics. Thus, we are together in the integrated business development arena. (...) We are quite happy with all these developments. We believe we will continue to consolidate in business and, then, we will attend the upcoming events organized by Indexport Messe Frankfurt for Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires, given the fact that Silkey “projects itself” as a domestic brand aiming at the world. So, we are also linked to different markets not only in Latin America but in the US, the EU and, therefore, all countries and businesses worldwide. We have done quite well, actually. We have closed a number of business transactions (...). Thank you very much for this opportunity and we will continue to make business in Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires.”
SOL PLENO
Marketing and PR Manager, Ms. Magali Klenicki
“(...) We got many leads, sold several products, both now and for the future. We are also taking home a good Business Round experience. The CEO of Sol Pleno was involved in them. Also we got a good experience from the interviews of CNN in Spanish, among other media who visited us. We expect to come back in the future.”
GAMA
Vice President, Mr. Alejandro Ceva
“This is the thirteenth edition of Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires and I have been there in all thirteen of them. So, I can actually speak about it. This edition has been one of the best all over. Year after year it gets better and better in every sense and also from the business standpoint. The chamber that gathers us all is becoming 75 years old. Undoubtedly it will be the opportunity for this exhibition to grow and become a symbol for the beauty industry. I am sure we are coming back next year and I expect it to be even better than this one.”
The visitors of the 13th International Hair Styling, Perfume, Cosmetics, Aesthetics and Beauty Fair enjoyed a number of shows, including fashion. At the Buenos Aires Salon, one of the major players in the fashion world, Héctor Vidal Rivas, presented his classic high fashion show: Buenos Aires Alta Moda. His catwalks were the stage for collections by: Adriana Costantini, Daniel Hechter, Fabián Kronenberg, Claudio Cosano and Tatu, who displayed an ecologic collection with fabric dyed by Toba aboriginous people.
Another presentation that attracted most of the public, especially hair stylists, was staged by Rome’s I SARGASSI team. The team traveled especially from Italy to show a live hair-cutting show on the catwalk displaying the latest trends. They also conveyed the new hair-styling concept they have created through pillars such as research, training, culture and exchange of ideas.
Apart from attending major shows, visitors were tempted by each of the range of offerings of the different exhibitor brands. They could have their hair cut, done, have make up applied or a manicure, try new products and even receive a relaxing massage in the hands of specialists at the Inspiration Venue. They also had the chance to participate in a number of lotteries with different product prizes.
Training had a major role in this edition of Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires 2006. 90 trainees attended the 1st International Scientific Congress on Applied Aesthetics, where reputed, local and international professionals offered their experiences and introduced new treatments, products and tools for plastic and aesthetic surgery, cosmetic chemistry, phlebology, cosmetology, musical therapy, dermatology, anti-aging medicine and marketing. This congress had the institutional support of the Argentinean Cosmetics and Aesthetics Federation and the Argentinean Anti-Aging Medicine Society.
On the other hand, non-mainstream tradespeople and businessmen had the chance to attend the Master Classes, to get marketing training and new knowledge to expand their businesses, new prospects and to deploy loyalty programs. This activity had an excellent impact. Aesthetics and cosmetics presentations were given throughout the congress, through workshops taught in Professional Aesthetics and Beauty Space, respectively. These three activities comprised 44 conferences in the hands of 43 speakers.
Some brands used the opportunity of the exhibition to hold the final rounds of their contests. The prestigious brand Avon organized the final round of the 3rd International Makeup Contest for professionals. The event was hosted by Silvina Chedieck, and its winners were: Yanina Engroba, in the Fantasy Make-up category, Bárbara Tabosnanska, in the Night Make-up category and Silvina Lescano, in the Day Make-up Category.
Another fabulous event was the final round of the Trend Vision Award, organized by WELLA. The winner will travel to the worldwide final to be held in Milan. The Trend Vision Award is a worldwide fashion trend information venue that includes hair cosmetics, makeup and fashion design, held every year.
Full of adrenaline, the final round of the 46th National Hair Styling and Color Contest was held, organized by the Argentinean Federation of Hair Stylists and Related Professions (FAPYA). For two days, the finalists of the different categories in hair styling, hair cuts and color had to work against the clock on the catwalk, while visitors looked at the hair styles and artistic make-up performed on their models.
Finally, another attractive that gathered lots of public and awakened the admiration of the attendants was the activity called “Look Good ... Feel Better.” CAPA called the rolls and it became a venue where renowned professionals of this industry offered all their know-how through make-up tips and techniques to improve the looks of oncological patients.
Cosmesur Beautyworld Buenos Aires 2006 was full of colors, glamour and sound. This event got an outstanding positioning internationally through its product introduction shows, services and collections, product demonstrations, training courses, contests’ final rounds and businesses rounds... This was a real Beauty Week, in every sense.
This edition has just ended ... and the bets are high on the upcoming fair, to be held on September 14 to 17, 2007, at La Rural Trade Center.
