Retailers and exhibitors declare an all time high for Pure

Pure 5-7 August 2007 hit an all time high this season, and with the hottest day of the year on the first day, overall attendance figures continued to increase by 9% on the previous August’s show. Pure’s importance on the international show calendar is indisputable with great attendance from Ireland, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands, Greece, Sweden, USA, and Hong Kong.

The impressive selection of brands that exhibit within Pure provide buyers with the cream of the world’s biggest and best selling brands. Exhibitors reported record sales and were extremely impressed by the high calibre of buyers.

The Pure Accessories floor saw the biggest ever line up of this season must-haves. Adding some 85 new brands to its large line up of over 350 collections, products range from the fun and funky to the seriously designer. Footwear brand Melissa, showed at Pure for the first time this season, agent David Millidge said: “Pure has been a very good fair for us and attracts a great diverse audience. Pure has met our strategy requirements and we’ve met lots of buyers from high class boutiques and department stores such as Fenwick of Bond Street, Hoopers and Psyche. We’ve seen lots of people from Ireland which is great as it’s a market that we are looking to break into. We will definitely be coming back again.

Buyers were impressed by the quality of product and the edited selection of directional womenswear, designer labels and young creative fashion. Angela Karaolis, Boutique Owner of A.C. Angel & Co. in Cyprus commented; “I’m always on the look out for new brands and Pure is great for this with many good brands under one roof. I travel from overseas each season and Pure always helps me find brands with interesting collections. I prefer to spend two full days at the show. The first day is spent viewing collections, the second I spend buying. I have just placed orders with three brands that I picked up in February and am about to order from two new brands that I’ve just seen today.”

Exhibitor David Bradbury from Fever enthused “I am incredibly positive about Pure. All our major accounts have been generated at Pure. This time we have had around 200 orders, maybe more, with approximately 30% of them being overseas buyers. Our key distributors and all the department store accounts were initiated at Pure”.

The expanded spirit section at Pure hosted an exciting line up of young fashion design. Peter Jarrett from nümph raved “our location had a fantastic effect, giving us the flow of new and existing customers. The Spirit section represents our brand rightly and it’s great that Pure is edited between the fashion sectors on show. Pure brings us great UK buyers, we hardly stopped writing orders and also established many new valuable contacts across the three days.”

Carl Barrat from Dept was also another pleased Spirit exhibitor “we have done Pure three times and it has always been a good show for us. We were expecting this season to be more difficult, but to our surprise done better than before, writing more orders than we had hoped for. We literally haven’t stopped for breaks. Our collection is different, and that is exactly what the market wants. We want this stand forever, it’s the perfect location for us. Pure is an excellent show for our womenswear, and I plan to introduce our menswear in the Spirit section. “

Next season’s show on 10 – 12 February 2008, will see Pure Accessories expand further to house more footwear brands. The launch of the footwear section is very exciting with 35%* of buyers at Pure already selling footwear, we are seeing an increase in more retailers stocking footwear to complement their offer. 70%* of buyers said that they expect to sell more footwear over the next 12 months and 61%* have already increased their footwear sales over the last 12 months”.

The well attended daily catwalk show and Drapers’ fashion forecasts are key for offering visitors great buying direction. Ümit Gündogdu, Chief Buyer at Adessa in Germany said; “It’s really important to us to visit Pure, we always attend each season to see the new brands and collections. The fashion show is an excellent way to see the future trends and designs for s/s 08.”

Pure looks forward to another successful show on 10.11.12. February 2008, Olympia London.
