International Leading Trade Fair for Caravaning

CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2008: A Trend Show, Information Platform and Outing Destination All in One

Compact vehicles with smart solutions now up and coming

Almost 2,000 recreational vehicles at a glance - from small caravans up to giant luxury motor homes - is the unique range offered at CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF. This year the No. 1 trade fair for mobile homes and caravans will run from Friday, 29 August, (Trade Visitor and Media Day) to Sunday, 7 September 2008. New launches are expected primarily in the compact mobile homes segment. Built to sleep two or four people, the van camper and partially integrated motor caravan vehicle categories have been diversifying their range of models for some years now. The start of 2008 also sees the most new launches in this vehicle type. The majority of these new motor homes are about 6 metres long and 2.15 m wide. Therefore they offer high agility in road traffic and are also fit for everyday use. Manufacturers are now predominantly focused on overcoming the scarce space associated with these compact dimensions through smart design solutions: berths are let down from the ceiling and can be made to disappear again at the flick of the wrist or even at a push of a button. Garages underneath the fixed rear berths provide added storage room even for bulky accessories. Thus, as time goes on the contradiction between living comfort, on the one hand, and compact dimensions and high mobility, on the other, is becoming less stark.

More mobility is now also afforded to caravans. Here ESP devices, now available across the board as a standard feature or accessory, make for higher road safety. It is now possible to suppress reciprocating movements in the trailer and keep caravans stable in lane even in rare emergency situations.

Fourth "caravanning design award: innovations for new mobility"

Even when the new models are completed in time for the CARAVAN SALON vehicle developers will still have their hands full. The conception of vehicles also increasingly involves designers; the design theme plays an ever more important role for both exterior and interior design. This is why Messe Düsseldorf will this year be awarding the "caravanning design award: innovations for new mobility" to particularly innovative products in the caravanning sector for the fourth time now. This industry contest is organised by red dot projects.

Mobile cooking studio: professional chefs advise on "cooking on the go"

At the CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF there are not only vehicles on show - trade fair visitors are also offered a versatile entertainment and information programme revolving around mobile vacationing. This year's programme will primarily focus on "physical well-being". Kitchens in caravans and motor homes are every bit as sophisticated as our kitchens back home these days - they are only somewhat more cramped. And with just a little improvisation you can create true culinary masterpieces in these small kitchens. Ideas for this, recipes for re-cooking and tips from professional chefs will be provided daily at the "Kochstudio" Cooking Studio of the CARAVAN SALON. Every day around lunchtime a different TV or Michelin-star chef will allow visitors to look over their shoulders while cooking at the "Caravaning Aktions Center" - where they will focus on regional specialities from your holiday region that are easy to prepare and pepping up your favourite home dishes with fresh local produce.

CIVD to cast a Caravanning Family

After the great success of the Caravanning Young Face Awards, which 1,000 children entered, the Caravaning Industrie Verband (CIVD) will now be looking for a caravanning family at the CARAVAN SALON 2008. Each day of the fair families can have their photos taken at the "Caravaning Aktions Center". At the end of the CARAVAN SALON the caravaning family will be chosen, which will then feature in the advertising campaign for the CARAVAN SALON 2009. This time visitors will be involved in the selection of candidates. The casting will be accompanied by an entertaining programme on stage including games and attractive prize draws for visitors both young and old.

In addition to this, a kids' cooking school, a BobbyCar concourse and an Adventure Camp will ensure kids and teenagers will find the CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2008 anything but dull.

International importance of CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF continues to grow

CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF is the world's largest fair for mobile holidays where every year over 160,000 visitors gather information on RVs as well as accessories, technologies, trends, tents/awnings, motor homes, camping equipment, campsites and camp grounds as well as numerous destinations and tour operators. The first Recreational Vehicle World Conference to be held on the occasion of the CARAVAN SALON at the Congress Center Düsseldorf on 4 September 2008 will further boost the international standing of CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF. The aim of the conference is to improve the exchange of information and the contacts between global caravanning markets. In addition to traditional caravanning markets like Europe and the USA, growth markets such as South Africa, Australia and China will now be a focus at the Caravanning World Conference for the first time.

Two fairs held in parallel with CARAVAN SALON for the first time

Those still not satisfied with the 11 air-conditioned exhibition halls of the CARAVAN SALON can use their ticket to also visit TourNatur, the Hiking and Trekking Fair once again this year held concurrently on the second weekend of the fair (5 to 7 September). Here you can add to your gear and be inspired for a hiking vacation or even book a trip. Visitors, however, are spoilt for choice considering just under 5,000 destinations are presented at TourNatur. In addition, IAM, the International Investors Fair, will be held in parallel with CARAVAN SALON and TourNatur from 5 to 7 September 2008 for the first time now. At this Germany's most important trade fair for financial products and services 200 firms will present everything related to asset building and providing for old age.
