New Delhi, August 29, 2006: Senior representatives from leading international media including the likes of Tatler, Vogue, WGSN, Kult and Wanted magazines and others will be keenly watching India’s first Spring-Summer Showcase at WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK, India’s premiere B2B fashion trade event, hosted by the Fashion Design Council of India from August 30 – September 3, 2006 at The Grand, New Delhi.

Beth Sobol, President, Sobol Fashion Productions Inc., owners and producers of Miami Fashion Week® (MFW) will be present and will interact with participating designers to apprise them of the events and opportunities for Indian designers at MFW 2007.

The positive response from the sixth edition of the event in April 2006 stressed the importance of the presence of international media. The international exposure that the participating designers gain will lead to an increased understanding and demand for Indian fashion in international markets. WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK is committed to promoting its member designers both in India and internationally. In line with this aim, the FDCI is forging relationships with renowned international media and fashionistas to enable greater exposure of the Indian fashion industry to the world.

This growing interest shown by International media only reiterates the growing global interest in Indian Fashion.

Rathi Vinay Jha, Director General FDCI, said, “The response from international media and fashion delegates from across the globe has been very positive. WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK will provide a platform to showcase India’s best in fashion and trends to the International media and will help Indian designers get the much deserved international recognition.”

Atul Chand, Vice President Marketing, ITC’s Lifestyle Retailing said, “The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is the country’s most prestigious lifestyle event and we are committed to taking the event to truly international levels. We are delighted with the participation of international media and delegates and see it as a sign of the event’s stature and rising global recognition.”

Devinder Kishore, Director Marketing - Customer and Market Operations Nokia India said, “India is fast becoming the focal point of global attention as more and more Indians distinguish themselves on the International arena. Technology and Style are two elements that are integral to the India brand story and we are delighted at the high level of foreign media participation at WIFW, as it will help showcase the dynamism of our fashion industry globally.”

Preeta Singh, CEO PDM said, “Given the overwhelming response from the international fashion fraternity, which includes globally recognised media and fashionistas, WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK is now clearly established as the only platform in India to showcase Indian talent to the world.
