Pro-logo: The World of Brands at the 26th Edition of ModaLisboa
ModaLisboa is the Portuguese brand that is most well-known by the international press. It’s therefore not surprising that ModaLisboa has become the only communication and marketing platform for Portuguese fashion to show the world the creative intelligence of our fashion. Exactly fifteen years ago, we were the first to launch the idea of fashion as a creative industry and to make the city of Lisbon an example of local branding, transforming it into the first Portuguese creative city.
ModaLisboa is therefore the first registered trademark in fashion’s creative industry and the first Portuguese idea of a creative city. We mobilise 700 people in the production of each ModaLisboa event. Over 40 thousand people visit us during each edition. Over 400 journalists cover the event.
During the 26th edition of ModaLisboa, Lanidor, Lion of Porches and North East Polar, the three brands which participate in the event, will present their creative city collections to the world, under the “Black” theme – “in Fashion, Black is a full Colour”.
Claus Porto, Sensia, LMA and Swarovski are the partner brands in the 26th Edition of ModaLisboa, the Portuguese brand with the highest advertising return.
The participating and partner brands expect us, together with them, to know how to build a more creative universe for the fashion industry’s brands, using a business platform, ModaLisboa itself, in order to do so.
This is what we will do, once again, during the 26th Edition of ModaLisboa.
Did you know that…
…30% of the more industrialised countries’ work forces, work for creative industries such as fashion, music, media, theatre, cinema and design…?
…these industries (fashion, music, media, theatre, cinema and design) represent 7% of the World’s Gross Domestic Product?
…in 2005 these industries (fashion, music, media, theatre, cinema and design…) were responsible for the movement of 1,3 billion dollars$?
…creative industries (fashion, music, media, theatre, cinema and design) are going to grow at an average rate of 10% ?
…in the European Union 4,2 million people work in cultural industries (fashion, music, media, theatre, cinema and design), which means 2,5% of the population, of the 25 countries that make up the EU?
…creative industries (fashion, music, media, theatre, cinema and design…) contribute to economic and social regeneration as well as to the regeneration of the city’s identity?
…interest in talent and creativity in the city has a positive impact on the population’s rejuvenation, urban upgrading, patrimony valorisation and on the city’s internationalisation?
...creative industries nowadays grow at over twice the rate of the service’s sector and four times more than industry? |
ABOUT MODALISBOA’S SYMBOLIC POWER
Future:
A. adj. 1. Yet to come; forthcoming; 2. yet to be; yet to happen
B. n. 1. Time that will come, time after the present; time to come; 2. That which will be or occur at a time after the present; destiny; 3. coming generations;
When we started, fifteen years ago, we were already talking about the FUTURE…
Black is the theme for the 26th edition of ModaLisboa. “In Fashion, Black is a full colour” said Barthes about the magic of a black point, without light, but yet with so many colours, of all colours, like creative cities.
Black is an elegant, sublime, dangerous, reverential, ascetic and luminous colour. It’s the fashionable colour. There’s no fashion without Black. Black is a full, absolute, majestic, luxurious, sophisticated and universal colour. It’s the party colour. Black is a heroic, tame, laborious and nostalgic colour. Black is the colour that manifests the constancy of history, roots and references. Black is history’s colour. Black is fashion’s constant breath. There’s no magic without Black. And we, ModaLisboa, are the perpetual updating of this eternal luxury. Black is a colour full of odours, it’s a source of pure energy, as is Modalisboa which builds cultural dynamism in the creative city. In Lisbon, in the fashionable city. ModaLisboa. The city of cuts and trims. Of corners. Of the streets and roads. It’s within this geography, filled with emotions, that we are and have been making fashion, for 15 years. In constant creative development, contributing as a happening, an event, and a platform for the definition and construction of the creative city. «In Fashion, Black is a full Colour».
With fashion, for a Creative City Concept
Nowadays there’s a phrase that costs economy and business a great deal. This phrase is “creative industry” and on our intelligence map it is located at a point called creative city.
Fashion is one of the main creative activities. According to global economy thinkers, fashion goes hand in hand with literature, music, cinema, photography, theatre, dance, advertising and media.
Fashion’s creative industry is therefore one of the new economy’s main activities.
ModaLisboa started 15 years ago. And it was ModaLisboa that introduced the concept of fashion, as a creative activity, in Portugal. The fact that it was called ModaLisboa, meant nothing other than Lisbon, creative city.
On the 26th edition of ModaLisboa, we celebrate exactly this, fashion as a Creative City Concept, because we are sure that the future of fashion starts here, in the city, the creative city of Lisbon.
About the creative city:
