Herald Sun secures five-year L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival deal

Australia’s most popular daily newspaper, the Herald Sun, will be the exclusive newspaper partner of the L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival for the next five years.

In a groundbreaking deal, the Herald Sun will be the festival’s official newspaper partner from 2008-2012, delivering the most comprehensive editorial and online coverage for readers across the Herald Sun, Sunday Herald Sun and mX and at heraldsun.com.au.

“This partnership underpins our commitment to major events in Victoria and cements our position as the premier events newspaper in this State,” Herald Sun editor in chief Bruce Guthrie said.

“The Herald Sun is number 1 for news and sport and we pride ourselves on being able to deliver quality entertainment and lifestyle news as well.

“Readers can be assured of the most up-to-date and thorough coverage of the fashion festival in the Herald Sun and at heraldsun.com.au.”

Festival director Karen Webster said the deal built on the solid relationship the two parties had enjoyed over the festival’s 12-year history.

“The Herald Sun is about reaching a diverse audience and so is the fashion festival,” Ms Webster said.

“We are about engaging everybody, as is the Herald Sun. It is a true, harmonious and collaborative partnership.”

The LMFF - regarded as one of the largest consumer fashion events in the world - is one of more than 70 partnerships the Herald Sun enjoys with sporting, entertainment and cultural institutions and events around Victoria.

As part of the partnership, the Herald Sun will continue to publish the official LMFF magazine and provide unrivalled and exclusive coverage of the signature parades and fashion events around Melbourne.

This year, our involvement includes sponsorship of the Herald Sun Marketing Breakfast on the topic “The Power of the Web” on Thursday March 6 – which, due to popular demand, has already sold out.

And once again the popular Pop Up Parades, presented by the Herald Sun and the City of Melbourne, will take fashion to the streets from the hallowed turf of the MCG on Monday to the Flemington Racecourse finale on Super Saturday.

Visitors to heraldsun.com.au can look forward to a raft of online initiatives including a dedicated fashion festival mini-site.

The mini-site will feature coverage of all the major events throughout the week, every major parade, backstage interviews with designers and models and photo galleries of the latest looks.

Fashion reporter Dina Rosendorff will update her daily Fashion Diary every night with gossip, hot tips, opinion and the drama of the festival.
