Baltic Fashion Week – central fashion event in Baltic States

Baltic Fashion Week (BFW) – takes place in Riga two times a year – during spring and autumn. Perfect organization, non-stop search for new designers and presentation of already famous ones to the professional public, active cooperation with international fashion associations, fashion weeks of different countries – all this differs BALTIC FASHION WEEK from other fashion events and attracts more and more attention within Latvia and from abroad each time.
Baltic Fashion Week FALL SESSION, which will take place from 2nd till 4th of December 2005 in Bensons Auto salon, will gather professional prêt a porter designers for the second time. Will be shown new Baltic designer collections.
BALTIC FASHION WEEK foundation are: Baltic designers, but each season includes guests from abroad. BALTIC FASHION WEEK – is a project which unites Baltic countries, promotes national fashion and rise international attention to the new EU members.
The collections will be shown by Sheila, Juta Kimenite, Aija Karlane, Odetta Birmane, Katlin Kangsepp, Baiba Cihovska, Ene Lill, Romans Straupmanis, Inese Pinne, Ieva Veita and Anastasia Golubeva, Anita Altmane, Helen Chaude, Vida Indosiene, Villa & Vestis, Elina Shnore, Jelena medvedeva and special guest Masha Sharoeva.
Official guests such as Alexander Shumsky (general producer of Russian Fashion Week), Godfrey Deeny (the leading critic of fashion business, creator of Internet-agency and Internet-portal Fashion Wire Daily), Helmut Lang (general producer of Euro Fashion Week), Heidy Roven (representative of Swedish Fashion Association, Rookies festival), Elena Ilitcheva (project fashion-russia chief-in-editor, fashion business magazines “Industrija Modi” and “Modnij Magazin” author), Karl-Rayner von der Ache, representative of international contest Baltic Fashion Award, Germany), Kalle Aasmaee (Estonian designer, journalist) will be invited on BFW.
BFW is supported by: Riga City Council, Fédération Française du Prêt à Porter Féminin (French Federation of Ready-to-Wear cloth), Latvian Association of Textile Producers and Lithuanian Association of Textile Producers, Russian Fashion Week.
Organizers cooperate with PRAGUE FASHION WEEK (Czech Republic), AMSTERDAM INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK (Netherlands), HELSINKI FASHION WEEK (Finland), OSLO FASHION WEEK (Norway), «Russkiy Siluet», (Russian designer’s support foundation), ES-MOD (the biggest school of designers in Europe – Berlin, Germany), ROOKIES (big fashion event in Scandinavia - Sweden), MADOS INFEKCIJA (big fashion event in Lithuania), SUPERNOOVA (competition of Estonian designers in Estonia), THE SPIRIT OF FASHION, EUROPEAN FASHION WEEK (Berlin - Germany).
First session of BFW took place during March 2005. 46 designers and around 3500 visitors have visited BFW during the spring session. Riga is steadily becoming a centre of Baltic fashion, which corresponds to the world’s market trends.This way one of the main goals of BALTIC FASHION WEEK was accomplished – the government, professionals, private business and mass media have shown their interest in the project. In future, BFW is planning to achieve an ultimate goal – to turn Baltic fashion into competitive and profitable industry and make collections from Baltic designers an item of prestige.
Riga will live in the world of fashion atmosphere once again!
