Design to live for in Bella Center

Copenhagen International Furniture Fair is causing a stir by changing its concept just five months before doors open to the 2007 fair in Bella Center. At the same time, we can reveal that particular emphasis is being put on the word ‘international’.

Under the headline “Design to die for”, Copenhagen International Furniture Fair has since the summer managed to provoke and cause a certain amount of reaction within the industry.
The fact that the furniture fair in Copenhagen, which is being held at Bella Center on 10-13 May, is now revising its concept is also attracting attention. The slogan now is “Design to live for”, and the battered people who caught the public’s attention initially have been replaced by more considerate types who exude a real passion for and delight in good design.

“We have achieved our original intention – to raise the profile of the fair in the industry,” says Sales and Marketing Director Jesper Åndahl, Bella Center.
“With our new slogan we are signalling that, with five months before liftoff, the time is ripe to inject fresh life into the fair concept and to create new settings and activities that will make Copenhagen International Furniture Fair 2007 even more attractive for exhibitors and visitors alike.”

International playground
The word ‘international’ is being heavily underscored when the attractive, highceilinged Center Hall in Bella Center becomes a centre point for both Danish and international design colleges during Copenhagen International Furniture Fair 2007.
During the autumn, design colleges in Denmark and abroad have been invited to participate to show what’s in the pipeline from tomorrow’s designers. The moment visitors step inside Bella Center, exciting innovation and impressive international input will catch their attention, illuminated by light flooding through the large skylights 26 metres above their heads. Banners, podiums, walls and floors will serve as a canvas on which design colleges can present themselves and the subjects with which the students are en-gaged on a daily basis. This will be one of the activities at the fair which is certain to arouse people’s interest next May.

Censured TalentZone
For almost half a century, Copenhagen International Furniture Fair has served as a meeting place and source of inspiration for manufacturers, dealers and architects. Many outstanding products have been unveiled at the fair before subsequently being put into production in collaboration between furniture designers and manufacturers.
The fair’s TalentZone has often paved the way for such collaboration and been the focus of considerable interest from visitors and, as in previous years, there will again be a TalentZone at the coming furniture fair in Bella Center on 10-13 May 2007. Here, both Danish and international participants are invited to present their ideas to the outside world.
To ensure high standards, the exhibits are censured, and each participant is individually assessed before they are all placed together at the bottom of all four C halls.

As previously mentioned, exhibitors and visitors will discover a more compact fair, where each square centimetre of exhibition space is bursting with design and activity. Therefore the exhibitors of home furniture, who in the past were located in the East hall, have on this occasion been moved to hall B.
