In spite of huge investments aiming at visitors and exhibitors as well as specific marketing and communication measures, BREAD & BUTTER BERLIN has not met with sufficient response. According to the number of registrations by now, it is not possible to guarantee a high-quality event. Karl-Heinz Müller: “We respect our partners’ objects and requirements, both in industry and trade. It would be counterproductive, if we organized the event ignoring the current situation.” |

On Sunday, July 16th, 2006 BREAD & BUTTER BERLIN counted 20.000 visits after three days of show. These figures are thought-provoking because one thing is certain: “It has been the most beautiful BREAD & butter – tradeshow for selected brands since the beginning” – this says not only Karl-Heinz Müller. Exhibitors as well as visitors confirmed that the past BBBerlin has been the most succeeded BBBerlin ever.
A perfect exhibitor portfolio, a coherent brand mix was coherent as well as a convincing visual presentation by a lot of love into detail inspired everybody who visited the show.
Most of the market leaders attended BBBerlin as well as smaller, more exclusive labels especially in KA 128 ***** - this brand mix didn’t leave nothing to be desired. Renowned national and international retailers and buyers took advantage of BBBerlin as for example representatives of well-known department stores like Macy’s New York, Jelmoli Zurich, Harrods London, KaDeWe Berlin, P & C Germany, Galeries Lafayette Berlin, Breuninger Stuttgart, Anson’s Germany, Ludwig Beck Munich and others. But also national and international high-end retail came to visit such as Thomas I Punkt Hamburg, Daniel’s Cologne/ Bonn, Zeitzeichen Würzburg, Stoffwechsel Berlin, Bailly Diehl Frankfurt, Red or Dead London, Browns London, Colette Paris, Plum New York, Podium Moscow, Frauenschuh Kitzbühel, The Gloss Luzern, Kitchener Bern, Gerard Loft Florence and Penelope Breschia. Buyers of the most renowned Japanese shops also used BBBerlin as a platform: Beams, Isetan, Mitsui, United Arrows und Wut Tokio, just to name a few.

And everybody shares the same opinion: BBBerlin is and will remain the ideal platform for Germany, Northern and Eastern Europe since it’s not about fi gures only. Karl-Heinz Müller: “The majority of our exhibitors confi rmed the enormous quality of retailers and buyers this season as well as the necessity of BBBerlin.
They hold fast to Berlin as a location since BBBerlin is the only relevant platform they have for Germany but also for the Eastern and Northern European market.”
As it has been announced in Saturday’s press conference, BREAD & butter will take further action: “We will sharpen BBBerlin’s profi le. We want to draw a clear picture for retailers and buyers. This is our goal.”
BREAD & butter aim at a stringent market portfolio and clear segments such as BREAD & BUTTER BERLIN and KA 128 *****. “We will be very selective by choosing the brands for next BBBerlin and we will start to talk to the relevant brands, labels and designers at a very early stage”, says Müller.
“Early commitments from our exhibitors are required since we want to enforce the direct communication with retail long before the show. We have already discussed ways of cooperation with some of our exhibitors and one thing is for sure: We will go on! With mutual efforts and joint forces we will enforce the communication here in order to give retail security and orientation as well as the best possible comfort.”
In addition BREAD & butter will offer a new and unique presentation platform: BREAD & butter PLAYGROUND. Karl-Heinz Müller: “More and more brands are looking for extraordinary ways of presentation. Fashion shows, special performances, exhibitions etc. become more and more interesting for them. With B&b PLAYGROUND we offer a forum that answers these needs and requirements.”
